Encephalitis

I have 3 year old son, diagnosed with hsve 3 weeks ago. After taken 1 week medication of zovirax, he was completely cure. I was so happy. But a week after that he had a fever for 2 days, and the symptoms appeared again. He was confused, babbling, keep moving. Now he is still treated(again) with higher dose of zovirax. Is that possible that a person get infected more than 1 times ? How should the 2nd infection be treated ? Is there a chance that my son actually didn't get HSVE but another kind of disease ?
