Epidural Injection for a pinch nerve

Post a new topicby Jim on Thu Aug 16, 2007 10:59 am

I have had this problem for about 2 1/2 months and given 2 epidurals but, my question: as a diabetic I was told by the neuro-surgeon that my glucose would spike for about 5 to 6 days - under the first shot the spikes lasted 10 days and on my second shot or at present I am going on 13 days - my concern is: the use of insulin which has boubled or from 50 units(basel & bolus) to 105 units per day: can any one provide me with an idea as to how long can it take and when is too long to long?

sounds like you had a steroid injection, the increase in glucose will probable last until the drug gets use up by your system. If ou are concerned call and ask the doctor. Good luck

This time the spikes in my system lasted 15 days and finally about 2:30 am I was awaken with the sweats and my counts was down to 48 - I normally try to run bellow 100 average so 48 was not that bad but dangerous, anyhow I am back to normal and very happy - I did ask 2 doctors as to why it took so long both believe its up to my physical status.
