Seizure Tyoe

Post a new topicby Anthony Lynch on Thu Mar 20, 2008 5:18 am

I started having seizures early last year. I am in my forties and male. I have had 6 seizures in total. My neurologist has disgnosed "Parial Complex Seizures". But reading articles on this site, the description fits "Grand Mal" seizures, as I lose consciousness suddenly followed by spasms. He is a very experienced neurologist and it is true that I have not had a seizure in the last 3 months. He is treating me with "tegretol" and does regular EEGs. However, the possibility of a mis-diagnosis worries me.

Did you go get a second opinion yet? I figure since you posted months ago that you have already made the appointment.
Can't hurt right?

Hi Janie,

Yes, when I went back home on vacation, I did get a second opinion which agreed with the first diagnosis. So it seems the original diagnosis was correct, as I havent had any seizures since last year.
I still do take my own precautions though --- plenty of sleep, good diet, no alcohol, stress levels under control. So, for the moment, I am a happy camper.

Anthony.
