what type of seizure could these symptoms represent?

Hello. My daughter is almost 18. She has a lifelong history of epilepsy grand mals. They are controlled considerably with lamictal. But lately she's been experiencing something new that we've been having difficulty getting diagnosed as she is also mentally handicapped and is unable to communicate her symptoms verbally. Her symptoms are as follows: She is actually conscious, can reach out and touch us, can speak to us and says "ouch, hurt" while at the same time her arms and legs are jerking. Her limbs don't continuously and rigidly convulse the whole time like they do during a grand mal seizure The jerks are very pronounced though and come about a few per second and seem to alternate arms and legs (and maybe torso, hard to tell). She might try to get up, but the jerks cause her to fall back over. The episodes don't happen every day (perhaps a couple a month more or less), and these episodes last a few to ten minutes long. She then recovers immediately as there doesn't appear to be any post ictal period. In her particular case, she hasn't been known to have more than one in a single day. What type of seizure (if any) could these symptoms represent? Any response is much appreciated. Thank you. Jeril
