Essential Tremor

I can't believe that there is a message board for this! I didn't even know what my problem was until 6 months ago. I've have these dang twitches and jerks for years. I'm 49 and it's been going on for 25 of them. No doctor ever said to me "Hey, you may have essential tremors". All my doctors have seen me do it so it's know like they didn't see it. My husband would always ask "What are you spazzing out about" when I would jerk or twitch. The funny thing is I had to track my problem down myself.

I was actually watching an episode of "House" and a doctor's hand was shaking as he tried to write a prescription. House said to him "Attention tremors huh?" and that was the start of my online researching. I'm just so glad that there is a place I can go to and see how everyone else deals with this embarassing problem!

Glad you're here Penny,

You know I didn't know anything about ET when I was diagnosed and like you I started searching to find out more. One day when I was doing some serious searching I stumbled upon this website and I actually thought the same thing you do about ET that I'm not alone anymore and I can come here to find out how other people deal with this and I can vent if I have to and others don't have a problem with it. I can tell you I don't let my ET control my life because I don't let it stop me from doing the things I have to and want to do. Like Deb said you need to read everything because take it from me it will help you a lot.

Welcome to the group. I was diagnosed 15 months ago, but was able to continue working with the help of medications (Primadone). Several people take Primadone and/or Inderal. I am currently on medical leave from work (I am a Registered Nurse). Besides my ET getting worse, I have other medical problems that interfere with my job at the present time.
I had never heard of ET until 15 months ago. I found this site in July of this year. It can really give you support and people are willing to share information and stories.

I know that a lot of folks go to We Move also and it is very imformative, but I do find this easier to use and have gotten to know the folks here...Seek info where you can find it!
