Living with this condition is very difficult. I find it hard to stay positive when I am going through three days of solid pain and no sleep. I sought out the expertie of a naturopath who is helping me cope with this disorder. I have gone the exercise root, major dietary changes , supplements with some success. When I get a pain outbreak it last three days. Its hard not to become depressed. I am glad to have read a post from someone who is wondering about what causes fibromyalgia. If researchers could solve this, perhaps they could find a cure. I can't tell you how many times I have wondered, "Why me?"...what could have started this, and please, please, please, will it ever end? How many of you have wondered about this, and are there any other cause you have thought about?

1. physical or emotional trauma ( I fell and injured my shoulder)
2. hormones (it seems to intensify the closer I get to my period, and then tapers off for a week of 2 after)
3. old age (it started when I was about 35 years)
4. heredity (my sister and father have similar symptoms)
5. weight ( I am slim)
6. history ( I smoked and did drugs when I was younger)
7. mental (generalized anxiety disorder/depression from a young age)

Hopefully, these are questions that are being asked by people I HOPE are doing research on finding a cure for this. I have a feeling the number of sufferers are being underreported. My doctor has never asked me about any of these questions. I know the Lyrica people sure are cashing in on treating, or trying to treat this horrible affliction that so many of us have. I wish there were some definitive answers out there.
