skin sensitivity wirh gullain-barre

Post a new topicby shortstroke on Sat Nov 03, 2007 1:22 pm

I am having extreme skin problems, mainly my skin (upper torso) only, which feels like have a 3rd degree sunburn. My pain medications offer very little relief and I would like to hear from anyone who has experienced a similar problem.

I started with GBS at the beginning of Nov. I was diagnosed and treated quickly and am on the mend. I have also noticed skin sensitivity on my upper stomach area. It doesn't sound quite as severe as yours but is definitely annoying. I also have alot of muscle issues in the same area, maybe they are connected. I'm on robaxin, a muscle relaxant, and neurontin, which helps with nerve pain and that seems to help the skin thing.

Thanks for your response. I am also on Neurontin, but it's not helping the skin thing much. I think a lot of my problems are a result of being mis-diagnosed for the first 3 months as having Brachial Neuritis and not GB. I changed Dr.'s and was then told I had GB. shortstroke

How's the sensitivity lately. Most days mine is not very noticable, some days though I get a searing pain like someone just touched my stomach with a hot iron. I was lucky that my GBS was diagnosed quickly. Another Dr. in the practice that I use had a case 2 weeks before me so my Dr. was watching my symptoms very carefully. What are the odds of that happening-supposedly this thing only attacks 1 or 2 per 100,000-and there were 2 in this practice in 2 weeks time.
